PHS Honors Transportation Department
On Friday, January 20th, Parkway High School surprised the Transportation Department with a delicious meal catered by Blue Moon BBQ & Grill in appreciation of their service to the school and commitment to excellence. It was great to share food and fellowship with a part of our school system family that we often do not have the opportunity to enjoy and often fail to express our gratitude. SROs Love their Panthers!!

Congratulations Panthers!!Alison Ringle and Cory Hamilton had stellar performances at the 5A State Track Meet. Alison took 2nd place in the 1600m and 3200m races. She broke the school record in both and became the first dual medalist for Parkway since 2008. Cory finished 3rd in the 400m.
The Amazing Race is ON!!!.........We are stomping out BULLYING!!!Parkway teachers & staff have been ‘stepping it up’ over the last 13 weeks in an effort to raise awareness on bullying. Faculty have been provided pedometers, divided into teams, and challenged to take at least 2.7million steps by the end of the school year. Each step represents the approximate 2.7 million students bullied each year. With only 2 weeks remaining, Parkway’s faculty have once again demonstrated excellence by going above & beyond their overall goal. Seven of the eleven teams have already surpassed their goal of 2.7 millions steps. Currently, the GOLD TEAM is in the lead with a whopping 7,073,660 steps!!! Students have enjoyed watching the faculty get creative with the program. Library staff have implemented “library laps” into their daily routine. Teachers are walking around the classroom more than ever to monitor student progress & activities. Outside of school hours, faculty have joined exercise programs & fitness centers. Spouses & families have also joined in the fun for their own friendly competition. Everyone is doing a fantastic job! Keep up the good work & keep stepping!!! FRESHMAN ORIENTATIONFriday August 3rd, 2012 8:00am-12:00pm Return Registration by July 13th This year Parkway High School will be offering the “Parkway Panther Prep” as a freshman transition experience. We are offering this opportunity for all incoming freshmen. We believe that it is unquestioned that any freshman participant will have a head start as they enter Parkway High School. Our research indicates that participants in these types of programs have earned higher grade point averages, been more likely to be involved in extracurricular opportunities, and have had fewer disciplinary situations than those who have not participated. There is no doubt that the experience will be informative and fun. I urge all incoming freshmen to attend. Please return the form, found in the locker on this page, to Parkway High School prior to July 13th. Include your for $15 CASH registration fee. Becky Gray, Assistant Principal SCHEDULING PROCEDURESAll students will be scheduled during the spring term for the following school year. Counselors will meet with the students in class groups to discuss scheduling procedures and options available to the students. Students will be provided an assigned time to meet individually with their grade level counselor to assess the student’s needs and to plan a course of study for the next school year. Students will be provided a course description guide and the appropriate schedule forms to take home and discuss with their parents the options available to best meet their needs. The parent and student should read everything in the course description guide (found in the Locker on this page) and register for eight credits. In addition, all students must write in four subjects in the alternative course section. Do not register for courses designated for students above your grade level. Do not select courses in which you are now enrolled and think you may fail. The counselor will make required subject changes due to failure. The courses selected will be your commitment for the full school year. Schedule changes will be permissible through June 8, 2012. There will be no schedule changes after June 8, 2012 unless an exception is made for the following reasons:
Both parent and student will sign the completed schedule forms and return these to his/her counselor within the designated time frame. Failure of the student to return the schedule will result in a schedule being assigned by the school. NewsParkway announcements: today is Wednesday, May 16, 2012
