Sheila Phipps, Instructional Coach

What is an Instructional Coach?

The Instructional Coach analyzes data and works with the schools’ administration and faculty in understanding assessment data in order to generate effective responses to the school/students’ needs. The IC also coordinates the effective implementation of required national, state and parish assessments.  Additionally, the IC will certify ethical testing practice within the school building. Along with testing duties, the Instructional Coach will work with the administration and faculty in coordinating Professional Learning Communities.  PLCs offer an opportunity for teachers to come together and plan common assessments within their area of instruction. As well as, share with each other what worked well and what did not as a result of their common assessment scores.  Lastly, the IC will serve as an extension of the Curriculum Department by communicating changes in instructional standards and course testing.
