New consequences have gone into effect as the result of a revised Louisiana law in instances where students or visitors on or near a school campus are found in possession of marijuana, THC vape pens or gummies.
What was previously a misdemeanor and $100 fine is now a felony crime, punishable by up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $1,000. Additionally, students will be recommended for expulsion.
Bossier Schools encourages you to watch this video and review this flyer for more information. Under state law, lack of knowledge of the revised statute is not a defense.
